Equine Assisted Therapy

Hippotherapy, literally means treatment with the help of the horse.  This specialty area of treatment helps children and adults who have reached a plateau in other therapies, have trouble with core strength, are “burnt out” on therapy or are seeking an alternative to traditional, clinical occupational therapy.  SHHRC also offers physical and speech therapy using the movement of the horse.

BENEFITS include

  • Improved balance
  • Improved motor coordination
  • Increased flexibility and range of motion
  • Increased strength and endurance
  • Improved body awareness
  • Increased processing of multi-sensory information
  • Improved bilateral coordination
